Locals

Ya know that kid who was super involved in your high school? They seemed to be in all the shows. Plays, musical performances, art shows, dance shows, and on and on. Well now high school is over and they are trying to continue doing what they love. I can't even count the number of people like this I know. I actually happen to be one of them!

If they invite you to like their page on Facebook, what can it hurt you to accept? If they post a video on Youtube, give it a watch, maybe even share it. These little acts like that don't go unnoticed, and they make a huge difference when someone is just starting out! I want to thank everybody for the little initial push I have gotten so far, and everyone who will find me later on.

Here's to local artists! I love you all <3

Girly

Hey everyone!

If you are just meeting me now you will have some conception of me being quite feminine. I love bows, and pink and purple, and skirts and dresses, and curves, and nail polish.

It wasn't always like this.

For all of Elementary school and most of Junior High I was quite the tom boy. I had really unfortunate long hair in grades 4-6, it always had knots in it because I hated brushing it. Now bad hair was apparently not enough for me, I had to have disgusting hair! I didn't like the way if felt when it was tucked behind my ears, and ponytails were out of the question most days (that's almost like brushing it!) The kicker is that I ate instant oatmeal every single morning for breakfast, and as I would lean in to spoon it into my mouth the hair, that I hated to tuck behind my ears, would end up in my porridge. I also didn't bathe. And I did quite a bit of chasing and intimidating during my days at school. By the time Junior High rolled around, I had at least cut my hair short and I was showering weekly. But I didn't really accept and begin to flatter my feminine curves until High School.

I have always had quite a bit of confidence, I never tried to be anything other than myself. I love learning, and developing, I love who I am now, and I can't wait to see who I become in the coming years.

Hello everyone!

Not only do I collect a ton of random stuff that "I might need for something someday", I collect hobbies. Throughout the lifetime of this blog I hope to share with all of you my various adventures in cooking, cleaning, crafting, and many many others. If you have a request for a tutorial let me know in a comment or e-mail me at

Deep Breaths

Okay. So the last few weeks have been a bit crazy and stressful for me as I plan to attend the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) in the fall. Now many who know me know that I love to perform. I have been a drummer for eight years, and I have been singing and dancing basically since I was able. The reason this makes applying for ACAD a bit tricky is because I had never really been a visual artist until just over a year ago. This gave me very little to chose from when it came to showing them my work. In order to fix that problem I decided it would be smart to just create all new stuff (in the short amount of time of about a month). I have always been pretty good at handling stress, deadlines, and pressure. I have had a bit of practice ;)

What all of this leads up to is that I have finally finished! All of the newly conceived and achieved artworks have been completed, documented, and sent off to the magicians of ACAD to decide whether I am fit for their school or not. The relief is astounding, and I feel like celebrating. I am currently enjoying what I feel to be a well deserved cocktail, and I am going to see an improv show. For those of you who have never seen an improv show, DO IT! They are always hilarious, and just generally put you in a good mood.

Wish me luck with ACAD, and I will talk to you again soon.

Hello!

This is my first post! WOOO!

Lately, as part of my journey into being a visual artist, I have been trying to set myself up online. There is quite a bit to think about! I didn't realize before I started how many things I would need to set up and maintain and now I fear I have overdone it a bit.

So here's to not just an artsy journey, not just the journey through life, not just the journey of a steep learning curve, but to an online journey that we can share together.

P.S. Like me on Facebook!
